Founded in 2020 by Smita and Uday, Giant Gorilla Greens began with a simple goal: finding a way to grow fresh, nutritious food indoors during the long New England winters. That search led us to microgreens—small in size, but packed with flavor and powerful nutrition—perfect for supporting a health-focused lifestyle.
Smita’s journey to building Giant Gorilla Greens is anything but traditional. With a background in aviation, she worked as a commercial pilot and flight instructor before turning her focus to agriculture and wellness. Living with multiple sclerosis, she has spent years prioritizing her health through intentional food and lifestyle choices, and has remained in remission for nearly a decade. Her personal experience shapes everything we do. We believe, just as you might, that what you eat matters—that nutrient-dense, whole foods can play a meaningful role in how you feel every day.
Uday brings a complementary perspective from the technology world, where he works as a marketing and solutions leader. Together, their combined experience in operations, innovation, and problem-solving helped lay the foundation for the business.
What started in our basement has grown into something much bigger. Smita has scaled Giant Gorilla Greens into a thriving, automated CEA operation, building strong distributor partnerships and maintaining consistent double-digit growth along the way. The business is run by Smita alongside a dedicated team of employees who help deliver the quality, consistency, and service our customers rely on.
